Connected by Thread opens at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery

Connected by Thread opened at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery on Saturday 4 March. It was wonderful to talk about the inspiration for our arts practice and textile pieces. We celebrated our diversity and the way we connect through our art. Many thanks to the committee and all who attended the opening. The exhibition is open Thursday to Sunday 9.30am - 4.30 pm through to Sunday 2 April 2023.

It's all Set Up!

So our pieces are all up and ready to view. The first day of the exhibition is today - Thursday 2 March 2023. Official opening is Saturday 4 March!

Fabulous Fifty

For our Connected by Thread exhibition we present 50 - yes, 50! - diverse pieces. Diverse in size, in inspiration, in style, in technique. As diverse as we are, and just as interesting and worth getting to know.

If you live in south east Queensland - or if you're visiting - we would love to see you at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery, Cleveland, from 2 March to 2 April 2023.

You'll see some changes to the pages in the right panel - the catalogue is up! When you visit, you can read a printed one, but if you prefer, you can access it directly on your phone/device.

Looking forward to meeting you in person

 As you can imagine, we are so excited to be opening our exhibition very very soon. It will be on for a whole month (2 March to 2 April 2023) at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery, Cleveland.

Nothing beats seeing pieces in person - and if you're there on opening day (Saturday 4 March) - come up and say 'Hi!'

Three weeks until opening - Connected by Thread

Yes! Three weeks today, members of the public will be able to view our works in person at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery, Cleveland.

To make a day of it, take some time drive a little way further towards the point and have some refreshment at the Lighthouse Cafe.

Looking vs Seeing

On average, gallery visitors spend from 8 to 30 seconds looking at a piece of art.

Is that enough time to really see?

Stories

Humans love a good story! We often get our fix through books and TV programs - but we definitely also get it through art. The same piece can have multiple layers and messages. Spend some time with art and create your own story and connection with it. 

 

Diversity

One of the reasons our group has successfully continued for more than 10 years is that we encourage and celebrate each other's unique creativity. Our paths may be different, but...we are connected by thread!  

Upcoming exhibition - Connected by Thread

We are in that exciting phase of life where we are ramping up to present our newest exhibition Connected by Thread.

Our pieces will be on display from 2 March to 2 April 2023 at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery in Cleveland (Queensland).

Please join us at the official opening at the gallery on 4 March from 5pm.
