A bit about me…

I am a textile artist living in an inner-city suburb of Brisbane (Meanjin), Queensland, inspired by candid observation of my world at large. My work draws from a large skill base of techniques including eco -dyeing, rust printing, cyanotype, collage, embroidery and painting on fabric.

My work often references historic textile traditions and for this reason I use vintage fabrics and textiles such as table linens, unfinished embroideries, laces and pre-worn clothing, which show the unpredictable marks of time. This use of recycled materials also ensures my work causes limited impact on the environment and speaks to my interest in sustainable living.

In a daily art practice, I explore the concepts of place and the environment using narrative storytelling, often featureing creatures and magical life forces amongst the seemingly ordinary elements of life. Text often adds to these stories.
